Fayetteville NC Comic Con To Showcase Horror Icons

Fayetteville NC Comic Con To Showcase Horror Icons

This weekend is the annual Comic Con for Fayetteville, NC. In addition to the many comic book artists and creators featured at the event, there is a new twist this year.  Fayetteville Comic Con ventured to the horror side a mere week and a half before Halloween. Tony Todd headlines the horror guest this year. Fans will of course recognize Tony as Candyman in the 1992 film and sequels. Todd also had featured roles in Hatchet and Hatchet 2, Death House and the new film, Hell Fest.

If Tony Todd was the only horror icon appearing at Fayetteville Comic Con, that would be a nice effort. Fayetteville Comic Con however, features an amazing lineup. Iconic makeup artist and creator, Tom Savini joins the fun at Fayetteville Comic Con. Known for his work in the Friday The 13th series and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Savini for decades has created monsters and creatures forever remembered.

Speaking of Friday The 13th, Warrington Gillette will make his way to Fayetteville. Gillette is one of the many actors that have donned the mask (or potato sack) of Jason Voorhees.  Gillette played the role (with Steve Dash) in Part 2.

Fayetteville Comic Con has also gone old school. The legendary Butch Patrick, known as lovable Eddie Munster on The Munsters!  Butch is not coming alone either. Coming with him are props AND The Munsters cars from the show! Butch Patrick will also be a guest of Larry K on Fayetteville’s 98.6 BOB FM this Friday morning at 7 AM!

Mark Dodson, known for his voice work on Gremlins and Gremlins 2, along with WWE Hall of Famer Hacksaw Jim Duggan round out the horror guests. Many fans may not realize that Hacksaw Duggan has acted in several films and had a starring role in Cody Knotts’ Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies in 2014. If you are a wrestling fan and horror fan, this film should be on you watch list, by the way.

The event will happen at The Crown Complex in Fayetteville, NC. A complete list of all of the guests, panel times, photo ops and more can be found on the FAYETTEVILLE COMIC CON website. There you can also buy tickets. You can also visit them on FACEBOOK.

All in all, Fayetteville Comic Con has heard the horror community loud and clear. They responded with a tremendous group of actors and icons from the horror world. They also booked horror guests that are “likable”. Each of the guests does have a reputation of being a great guy to meet as a fan at shows. Fayetteville got this lineup right made it fun to countdown to.  See everyone this weekend!

House of Tortured Souls Reviews Hell Fest

House of Tortured Souls Reviews Hell Fest

There is one thing I really enjoy and that is seeing movies before they are released! I had the pleasure of being able to see Hell Fest the night before its release nationwide on September 28th. Hell Fest is a new Halloween movie that delivers on the scares and on the laughs. The movie stars Tony Todd, Amy Forsyth, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Christian James, among several other very talented actors.

Hell Fest is a traveling carnival that delivers rides, games and haunted mazes to various towns across the country. This particular carnival has the added bonus of a killer who is picking off random people and leaving their bodies for the crew to find after the fun is over. The stars of the movie are in the killer’s sight and it is up to them to escape or risk death. What is fun about the killer is there are parts where it may be misleading as to which person in the park is the killer is, so you are drawn in.

This movie is filled with incredible death scenes. Those scenes are very well done and even made me cover my eyes a couple times. There were jump scares that made the whole audience jump but there were also some laughs to be had. Will the young adults make it out of Hell Fest and live to tell about the terror of that Halloween night? I won’t tell if they do but I will say that Hell Fest is a must see for all horror movie lovers to watch.  Overall, this movie was very well done and I can’t wait to see it again! I give this movie a solid A+.

COMING SOON: Hell Fest (2018)

COMING SOON: Hell Fest (2018)

Hell Fest / IMDBIf you’re like me, Halloween is a favorite time of the year! And even better are the movies that come out at this time of year. On September 28, the movie Hell Fest will be coming out nationwide in theaters. Written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge, The Grudge 2, and The Possession) and Seth M. Sherwood (Leatherface), Hell Fest is produced by Gale Anne Hurd of The Walking Dead fame and stars Bex Taylor-Klaus (Scream: The TV Series), Amy Forsyth (Channel Zero), Reign Edwards (MacGyver, The Bold and the Beautiful), and Tony Todd (Candyman, Victor Crowley, Death House). The movie follows three young couples who decide to check out a traveling carnival called Hell Fest that has rides, mazes, and games. Very soon, they discover that not all is as it seems in the carnival.

Hell Fest / IMDBAfter seeing the trailer and reading about the movie, I absolutely cannot wait to see Hell Fest. September 28, I will be at my local theater with popcorn and soda, and I’ll be bouncing in my seat with anticipation! Will the lead actors get out alive? Who is the killer? Is Tony Todd the villain or is he an unlucky bystander? Only time will tell and it cannot get here fast enough!

Check out the trailer below and let House of Tortured Souls know if you’re ready for Hell Fest.
