Forty years later, the new Halloween movie has officially begun filming! If I were any more excited…hell, even I don’t know. Maybe I will explode — feels like it! My favorite horror film has always been John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece Halloween. To know that a new one is coming is like Christmas to a horror fan. Michael Myers will soon be scaring the hell out of us once again!

This Halloween is being produced by Blumhouse Productions the people who have brought us Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Oculus, Get Out, and Split. To say that these people know horror would be a gross understatement. Hell, they are slowly becoming the first name in horror. The film is being directed by David Gordon Green (Our Brand is Crisis, Your Highness, and Pineapple Express). As a horror fan, I can only hope that he knows horror. This Halloween, fortunately, has John Carpenter doing the character writing. Debra Hill did some of the original writing on the original Halloween and all of the other Halloween films and projects. She and John worked together on the Halloweens, The Fog, and Escape From New York. The screenplay is written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride who wrote Your Highness and Eastbound & Down.

This time around we have Judy Greer (Jurassic WorldCarrie) as Karen Laurie Strode’s daughter, Andi Matichak (666 Park Avenue, Orange is the New Black) as the granddaughter, and Nick Castle (the original shape from Halloween) as Michael Myers along with James Jude Courtney (Far and Away, Buffy The Vampire Slayer) also as Michael Myers. And, as the final and most exciting casting news, we have Jamie Lee Curtis — the greatest scream queen ever (Halloween, Prom Night, The Fog, and Terror Train) — returning to her role as Laurie Strode! Even though she was killed off in Halloween Resurrection in 2002, this film does not have the progression of the previous sequels (much to our delight).

Halloween (2018)

Halloween is being shot in South Carolina and has officially begun filming. The premise is short and sweet: Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Sadly, yes. A family friend cited cancer as the cause of death.
