It is a short film that will be online for a very limited time on Halloween.

Billed as a thriller/horror short, the story revolves around how a woman’s mundane night-in can take a turn for the worse. Even in the comfort of her own home, she never knew what evil lurks around the corner.

Made by a cast and crew of local people, and filmed in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex  earlier this month. It features professional actress Samantha Anderson (Sisters , Human Cargo), who also wrote the script. This is her first attempt at writing and is excited to see how audiences receive the story. It also stars professional actor Neal Ward (Two Grave, Hosts).

It includes the voices of local actors Alice Ryan and David Streames, who are both prominent within the local area’s film community.

With beautiful cinematography and a chilling score (by Southend composer Josh Winiberg) Off the Hook gives a nod to 70’s and 80’s horror movies, with audienced advised Best not to watch this alone.

Off the Hook was written, produced and stars female filmmakers and is something which the filmmakers wanted to highlight. It is so important for emerging talent to be recognised no matter what the sex, and they hope it will pave the way for a new generation of women to work both in front of and behind the camera.

Daniel who directed the film, also managed the cinematography and brought in extra help from local people from Southend. This included some who have never worked in a film shoot environment, allowing them an opportunity to learn the skills required and work on future productions.

We are hoping to submit the film into a variety of film festivals so watch this space as we will be making more (always on the look out to work with local Southend crew so get in touch!).

The film will only be shown for 1 night only, Thur 31st Oct between 6pm – 12pm (UK).
