Released: May 4th, 2018

Length: 4:46
Label: Nuclear Blast

“Mired in illusion
Lost in the masters game
Silenced by the idea of time
Nurtured with lies and deceit

The silent seeker, the seer
Travels beyond the veil
The silent seeker, the seer
Fleeing the dense womb of ignorance

To the trained eye
There are no coincidences
The more you see
The less it makes sense
To the trained eye
There are no coincidences
If you can not see
You can not truly know

We are the current sum of all the ages
Leaving a trail of burnt pages
Thrown into darkness as stars
We travel alone as one

When the dust settles on the tavern
Is when we’re liberated from illusion
Taking our first and final breath
Realizing life is always after death”

Unearthed Films Is Now The Exclusive Distributor For Plotdigger Films

Unearthed Films Is Now The Exclusive Distributor For Plotdigger Films

In a stunning announcement, Unearthed Films has now become the exclusive distributor of Plotdigger Films and controversial film maker Ryan Nicholson! While there are many who were and are still upset with the circumstances of what happened with the crowdfunding and the situations that took place afterwards, I would personally like to commend Stephen Biro and Unearthed Films for trying to make good on the promises that were made in the past and for getting Ryan’s films out to the horror fans. This is just another example of what a great man Stephen is and his love for the genre and its fans! From the press release:

“Unearthed Films is proud to announce that we are now the exclusive distributor for all Plotdigger Films releases.

Yes, the rumors are true! Our first release will be Nicholson’s FAMINE, which has never had a release in the US.

Here’s a list of the films we will be releasing on Blu-ray from the Plotdigger Films library (in no particular order):

GUTTERBALLS
LIVE FEED
HANGER
TORCHED
STAR VEHICLE

PLUS BIG FUCKING MONSTER (Never seen before. We are working on the post and edit to complete the film)

AND (Drum Roll………) GUTTERBALLS 2!!!

Yeah, Yeah, I know. I’m sure there are a lot of people who are pissed off at Ryan Nicholson because he didn’t deliver on his INDIEGOGO promises BUT here’s the good news! In a heartfelt effort to rectify the situation, Unearthed Films is working closely with Ryan to edit the GUTTERBALLS 2 footage and complete the film so that it can be distributed and delivered to all those fans who put up their hard earned money to support the INDIEGOGO campaign. Regrettably, GUTTERBALLS 3 will never see the light of day as no footage was shot.

Let me tell you the reasons why I’ve decided to work with Ryan Nicholson to try and make things right, not just for fans of GUTTERBALLS but for his whole library.

As some of you may know, Ryan Nicholson was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor while working on GUTTERBALLS 2 and GUTTERBALLS 3. He soon became deathly ill but managed to finish the shoot of GB2 (but not GB3). Fortunately, he had successful brain surgery to stop the cancer but poking around in the brain can also have negative consequences. The surgery resulted in personality changes and work on some of his films was put on hold as other medical conditions surfaced. To this day, Ryan is still dealing with medical problems resulting from the surgery.

Unearthed Films released Ryan’s film COLLAR some years back and he liked what we did with the release. He also knew that we have the ability to do postproduction in house and that we could help in bringing some of his lost movies into the light of day. It made sense therefore for us to come together and work on his films. We plan to get them completed, delivered, distributed AND to clean up the INDIEGOGO mess.

Here’s what we plan to do. To all those people who purchased GB2 and GB3 from the suspended INDIEGOGO campaign we will be offering the completed GB2 plus BIG FUCKING MONSTER. These will be free of charge and we’ll pay for the postage. This way, INDIEGOGO customers will be receiving two new films as was originally intended. IF the INDIEGOGO campaign left a bad taste in your mouth and you don’t want BIG FUCKING MONSTER, we will let you choose a Blu-ray or DVD from the Unearthed Films catalogue to make up the difference. We hope this will go a long way to rectifying the situation and be some kind of compensation for the trouble caused. We will be contacting everyone who pre-bought from the INDIEGOGO campaign to find out how you want to proceed.

To be honest, Ryan Nicholson is very lucky to still be alive. Unearthed Films is stepping in, not only as fans but also as Ryan’s new distributor and business partner, in order to try and make everything right. We believe this is the least we can do for everyone involved including the Unearthed Films fans and family, for all Ryan Nicholson and Plotdigger fans, and also for his haters and people pissed off at the situation. We are confident that we can make this right (or at least somewhat right) and certainly an improvement on the present situation. Ryan needs our help to make this a reality and the fans who made GB2 possible need our help in order to get delivery of the film they ordered long ago.

I realize I may get a lot of hate for taking this on… but fuck it. The way I look at it is… we are all family in the small corner of the horror industry where we reside and flourish… sometimes we need help to make things right and I’m lucky enough to be in a position to help in some way, shape or form and I’m going to do that.

To recap, FAMINE will be Unearthed Films first release in a series of “never before seen” movies from Plotdigger. We will be finalizing BIG FUCKING MONSTER while others on the Unearthed Films team will be working from scratch on the edit of GUTTERBALLS 2 in order to complete the film as was originally envisioned by Ryan. The only version of GB2 that has ever been shown was a cobbled together “film festival” version. It is was a speed edit by someone who had no experience and is not reflective of what the film could be. I know this because I’ve looked through the dailies and there’s some damn good stuff in there. Meanwhile, Ryan will be working on the statues of the BBK that were ordered through INDIEGOGO to get them finished. As for the collectors’ sets that promised two additional versions of GB2 and GB3 (the “bootleg” and “pin-atration” cuts) we’re probably not going to do these. The “bootleg” cut with unlicensed music is particularly problematic.

I hope this is positive news (even great news!) for everyone. It means BIG FUCKING MONSTER, FAMINE and GUTTERBALLS 2 will see the light of day and all the previously released films will be on Blu-ray. If we’re lucky, we may also get our hands on another “never before seen” Nicholson film called CANNIBAL LIPSTICK. We are trying to locate the footage and hope to make this a reality too.

In addition to all the above, we are working behind the scenes on a lot of other exciting projects and will have news on these soon.

Death and Dismemberment,

Stephen Biro

Length: 4:29
Label: Nuclear Blast

“Let not my Corpse Rot in the Necropolis
Let not my crimes be raised against me While in the Earth
Make my flesh and bones safe from Maggots
And Any False God who Trepasses my Tomb

You whose heart has been Seized from thy breast
Save me from the Ravages of Deacay
The Crawling Feinds Who Take away Limbs
Corpses who Deny the Inevitable Truth
The Lifetime of Osiris is the Sky And theirs is the Ground

Save me from those Imprisoned in the Duat
Who Know not yet they are already Dead

Save me from the Rotting dead
who sleep inside Their corpses
Whose breath becomes fire inside their water
at whose burning the sea rises at dawn

Grant Me the Immolating Flame
Burn my sarcophagus
In opposition to the lords of eternity
I beg you
Prevent my corpse from putrefying in the realm of the dead

Enduring the eternal molestation of flame
The life time of Osiris is the Sky and Theirs is the Ground”

Dedman’s Morbid Mausoleum Of Dark Poetry: A Wraith’s Infernal Lullaby

“Shadows of Dust, A Specter’s unrelenting Agony,
The splintered Reality, Blackest reward is Alchemy;
Enunciate thy Pain, Perpetrate outward in Blasphemy,
Vociferation details Anguish, A Soul befouled Maggoty.

Shade of Detritus, A Phantom’s inexorable Misery,
An unconnected Actuality, Baseless means of Mystery;
Vocalize your Torment, Represent forward as Trickery,
Exclamation without Angst, Psyche projects as Witchery.

Phantom of Rubble, A Wraith’s adamant Suffering,
Of broken Realism, Determination fades to Smothering,
Articulate thine Torture, Sufferance leads unknown Guttering,
Enunciate the Excruciate, Mortal coil experiences Puncturing.

Ghost of Wreckage, a Poltergeist’s unappeasable Bitterness,
Tattered bits Surrealism, Expectations dissolved as Dizziness,
Pronounce thou Distortion, Damnation begets a Slipperiness,
Alliterations within Consternation, Drained in Death’s Wilderness…”

Released By- Cult Epics

Release Date- April 12th, 2016

The Premise: Cult Epics presents the third release in the series Corpse Fucking Art; Jorg Buttgereit’s powerful masterpiece Der Todesking (aka The Death King), made in between Nekromantik (1987) and Nekromantik 2 (1991). Seven stories on Death and Suicide, each taking place on a different day of the week, enframed by the decomposition of a human body.

Der Todesking, available for the first time on DVD and Blu-Ray, is persented Uncut and Uncensored in a new High Definition transfer, including the bonus Shockumentary Corpse Fucking Art: an in-depth look behind the scenes of Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2 and Der Todesking.

The second film in Jorg Buttgereit’s filmography is certainly different in thematic elements from Nekromantik while still being an homage to death. While thoughts and feeling about suicide are often very taboo, especially in today’s social climate, the film possesses a certain poetic and romantic quality that few arthouse films could ever come close to touching. It was certainly brave to take a viewpoint of seven different individuals on seven different days and to show the circumstances and decisions that led to them deciding to commit suicide in different ways. Some of the stories make you feel sad and empathetic for the individuals while others will horrify you as you watch them spiral into unending depression and madness. Still others will leave you breathless and asking questions that will have no answers that will make any sense. To me, the most powerful of the stories is one of the shortest ones with absolutely no dialogue and no grotesque scenes of violence (the Thursday tale of The Bridge). It is a very powerful segment that will certainly haunt you simply because of the absolute tranquility of the location and the lack of sheer violence. In terms of the most shocking segments, the Saturday segment may be the most shocking as it hits upon the trend of public shootings but with the twist of it being a woman and her filming the whole thing as it goes it. It is certainly a chilling segment and one that will make you step back and take pause as you think about today’s society. The rest are equally well told and while the film will certainly be triggering for some, I think it is an important piece of film making and will make you look at suicide very differently…

SPOILERS: As the film starts, we see a man’s dead body laying still and slowly starting to decay. We then cut to a little girl on a playground drawing in a notebook. The top of the page simply says Der Todesking and she is drawing a skull and a skeletal body…

Monday: As the story opens, we see a man walking down the street looking at various locations. The next time we see him, he is in his apartment writing a series of letters. He calls into his work and lets them know that he will be quitting before we see him cleaning up around his rather austere apartment. It would appear that the only thing he cares about are his goldfish and his various fish themed knick-knacks. The last time we see him, he is finely groomed and sits in his bathtub taking multiple pills before laying back in the water as he fades away into death…

Tuesday: We see a young man enter a video store and look at the horror films until he comes across a naziploitation film titles Vera, Todesengel Der Gestapo. He opens a letter he received to find out that a friend of his committed suicide. When he gets home, he pops the film in and starts watching it with great joy while drinking beer. The film shows a female S.S. officer torturing a man and cutting his penis off with a pair of garden shears. He cheers the film on until his girlfriend comes home and berates him for not going to a birthday party. He pulls out a gun and shoots her in the head, later framing the splattered brain on the wall with a picture frame before hanging himself…

Wednesday: A young lady is walking down the road in the rain reading a letter (we are left wondering if it is one of the letters from the beginning of the film). We then see a man sitting in the rain at the park and she sits down next to him. He begins to tell her the story of his wife and her troubles with mental health issues and how they are beginning to affect him. He goes on to tell her about how they spent their anniversary together until he killed her later that evening. The woman pulls a gun out of her purse and points it at him but he takes it from her and sticks the gun in his mouth, pulling the trigger as the camera pans away…

Thursday: The camera pans in on a large bridge in a rather serene location. As the camera pans up and around the bridge, all we see is a continuous list of names and ages scrolling throughout. As we continue to see more of the bridge and the breathtaking location we realize that the list of names are those that have committed suicide at the loaction…

Friday: We see a woman observing her younger neighbors having a make-out session. She leaves the apartment for a quick moment and peeps into what we can only assume is the young couples apartment but she quickly goes back to her place. She picks up an envelope that is outside and makes a phone call that no one answers. She opens the letter to see it is a chain letter telling her to kill herself but she simply tears it up and throws it away. She eats some chocolate some wine before falling asleep, dreaming of walking in on her parents having sex while she was a child. After she awakens, we flash back over to the young neighbors to see that they have committed suicide together in bed…

Saturday: A man is watching a reel of film with another man. It starts off showing someone in a POV style with a gun walking around. It then cuts to a woman reading to a young girl about the act of killing and suicide. We then see her again preparing to go out, setting up a camera rig and then loading a gun. She heads out and we see her shoot a man in a ticket booth at a concert venue before walking inside and shooting the lead singer and then turning the gun on members of the audience. She turns to another man that has a gun and he shoots her. The last bit of footage we see is from a camera at the back of the venue turning to shoot members of the crowd…

Sunday: A man wakes up in his bed and you can see he is in obvious mental anguish. He continuously beats his head against the wall for a while and lays groaning on the floor. He eventually gets up and continues to beat his head against the wall until he starts to convulse and then dies…

As the film ends, we see the same little girl from the beginning of the film finishing her drawing of Der Todesking…

Bonus Features
Jorg Buttgereit’s SEX MURDER ART Booklet: New for this Box Set, this 40 page booklet is one of the true treasures of this release! Complete with an introduction from Nico B. of Cult Epics, this includes excerpts of David Kereke’s early interviews with Jorg and other crew members from his book Sex Murder Art as well as art created exclusively for this release by Ferox. The interviews certainly give more subtext to the cannon of Buttgereit’s films and with the inclusion of the photographs and an in-depth breakdown of Buttgereit’s filmography, this may just be THE definitive say on his work!

Film Introduction By Jorg Buttgereit: (Run time of 1 minute 14 seconds) This optional intro is a brief introduction of the film from the director. He makes it a point to tell us that the film is not like Nekromantik in that the film is not about necrophilia, but instead about suicide and violence towards others…

The Making Of Der Todesking: (Run time of 15 minutes 43 seconds) A nice and compact look at the making of the film with plenty of behind the scenes footage and exposition by the director. It was interesting to note how he felt that they might have a hard time selling the film because it did not have the same bloody and gross out atmosphere of Nekromantik. The approach taken was and still is very controversial, especially considering how suicide is viewed by todays social standards. The behind the scenes footage is particularly interesting, especially when they get to the segment about the bridge and how they managed to shoot the footage for it. I was also very fond of the description of how the rotting corpse footage was shot and shown. Very nice addition for this release…

Corpse Fucking Art HD: (Run time of 58 minutes 11 seconds) This is a combination of the making of Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2 and Der Todesking combined into one feature. While this is all footage than we have seen on the other discs in this box set release (including this one), it is blended together nicely and flows into one coherent story. All of the gory details are kept intact and is indeed meant for those with a strong stomach. Excellent addition to this release and a must watch for die hard fans and collectors!

Still Photo Gallery: 128 different photos and still in color and black and white from the film.

JB Trailers: Trailers from Jorg Buttgereit’s films, including Nekromantik HD (2 Minutes), Nekromantik 2 (1 Minute 5 Seconds), Der Todesking (2 Minutes 20 Seconds), Schramm (1 Minute 30 Seconds), Hot Love (1 Minute 12 seconds) and Angst (3 Minutes 2 seconds).

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: This is included on the Blu-Ray AS WELL AS on a separate disc (new for this release as it was including only on disc on the standalone Der Todesking Special Edition Blu-Ray Release) along with the soundtrack to Jorg Bettgereit’s NEKROMANTIK. Track Listing: 1. Die Fahri Ins Reich Der Menschentrummer I (String 3:05), 2. Die Fahri Ins Reich Der Menschentrummer II (Organ 3:07), 3. Petrified (1:25), 4. Poison (3:59), 5. Fish (2:59), 6. Die Fahri Ins Reich Der Menschentrummer III (3:27), 7. Ich Liebe Meine Frau (:13), 8. Freund Hein (3:38), 9. Sie Fangt An Zu Weinen (:48), 10. Die Fahri Ins Reich Der Menschentrummer IV/Endtitel (2:47), 11. Der Todesking (:37)

Discs: 4
Format: NTSC
Color: Color
Rating: NR
Aspect Ratio: 1080p High Definition Widescreen (1.33:1)
Language: German with Subtitles

Cult Epics has once again given us a piece of gore cinema that does not quite get the reception that it deserves. The HD transfer is quite good while still leaving the film with the gritty grindhouse look and feel that adds to the atmosphere. The Making Of Der Todesking featurette is quite good and on par with the other “Making Of” featurettes included in this box set and the Still Photo gallery once again gives us a wealth of behind the scenes that most films don’t. I think the one of the crown jewels of this release is the Corpse Fucking Art documentary. It takes the “Making Of” from Nekromantik and Nekromantik 2 and combines them into one soid piece with the “Making Of” from this film to tell the ultimate story of death in cinema. When all three are viewed together, you really do see the more poetic aspects of Buttgereit’s films and how they all tie in together. The other crowning piece of this release is once again the standalone disc of the soundtrack. Having the capability to transfer this amazing soundtrack to your favorite listening device is something I wish more releases did and I applaud Cult Epics for making that possible. A must own for fans of extreme cinema, Cult Epics should be saluted for taking such risks and releasing such fine art!

Released: February 3rd, 2009
Genre: Death Metal
Length: 4:29
Label: Metal Blade Records

“Experimental pathogens, a devils design
The dark side of science breeds a weapon of war
Contagious killing and internal distress
Homicide or suicide will be the cause of death
Internal organs altered by the disease
Your brain disabled by the constant pain
Erratic actions lead my thoughts to the blade
I’ve lost control, I’ve lost control

Beg for your life, you won’t escape the knife
Your fate was sealed today
Disease has spread you pray for death
Evisceration plague

Stabbing compulsion overwhelms my mind
Terrorized screaming follows the thrust of my knife
I wrench the blade from the chest to the crotch
Organs and entrails fall to the ground

Beg for your life, you won’t escape the knife
Your fate was sealed today
Disease has spread you pray for death
Evisceration plague

Driven to kill, this is not my will
I am compelled to slay
Invisible foe takes control
Evisceration plague

Unable to be seen but with the visible effect
Virulent disease causing outbreaks of violence
They tear themselves apart, offal covers the ground
Viscera torn forcefully from the abdomen
Intestines slick with blood cannot escape my grip
Surgical incisions give way to frenzied carving
Delirium has taken hold, disembowelment is complete
Horror grips my mind, my entrails are in my hands
My entrails are in my hands
My entrails are in my hands…
Plague leads to death
Plague leads to death
Plague leads to death
Plague leads to death

Disease will spread and cover the world
Mass insanity, the end of our time
Scavengers will eat the remains of man
Our extinction was by our design

Beg for your life, you won’t escape the knife
Your fate was sealed today
Disease has spread you pray for death
Evisceration plague

Driven to kill, this is not my will
I am compelled to slay
Invisible foe takes control
Evisceration plague”

Dedman’s Morbid Mausoleum of Dark Poetry: Of Immolation and Graveyard Dirt

“The bells toll to start this funeral procession, much too late to hear a confession as I now release you from your transgression…

The smell of graveyard dirt is sharp in the air, pungent and wet as it is turned over by my spade,
A hole six feet deep into eternal darkness is burrowed while the worms watched, laughed and played;

The location is unruffled with a hint of perplexity, known only to my disciples in feverish secrecy,
Never will you be found in this unmarked grave even as you scream for unheeded mercy ceaselessly;

This unholy ritual performed by my mortician’s hands is unwavering in its complexity and yet simple in execution,
As the air runs low in lungs that burn and sound becomes muffled in a consciousness that now comprehends this retribution;

Ponder whether the betrayal was worth the kinship that was given up, collaborations that could have been legendary,
You sold your soul to a false idol whose words sparkle like false gold that have done nothing but buy your place in my cemetery;

It is now too late as you realize your role, I warm my hands as if by lumps of coal while watching the immolation of your soul…”

Dedman’s Morbid Mausoleum Of Dark Poetry: Of Betrayal And Hypocrisy…

“The Reaper of wayward souls is but one of my many vocations, a title that is not lightly bestowed upon the animate being,

A stab to the back and trust cast aside for those that didn’t care before is tantamount to a disaster for eyes unseeing;

You have forgotten who I am and the machinations of my words will be a remembrance of pain,
I speak the truths that are feared and forgotten but are never quieted in the twisted minds stain;

The fog undulates in slowly, masking headstones that litter the necropolis that is my dominion,
A home of bleakness that terrifies the soul and yet has an allure that sparks many an opinion:

Candles flicker in the whispers of wind and a pentagram is drawn with the dust of crumbled bone,
The summoning is on the cusp of delirium and damnation as I am about to reap what you have sown;

The smell of fear is sharp and bright in the hallows of the surrounding tombs, very sweet in taste,
Brotherhood is a bond not easily given or taken but it is one you have thrown away in a pitiful haste;

Forevermore now cast in my shadow and left to wonder what could have been now as you feel the crushing wither in your soul,
The sting will come when your casting out occurs at the hands of the wicked hypocrisy that lies to you but you will not see it until the bells toll;

My resurrection is at hand and is time to remind everyone just who the Hell I am…”

Length: 6:26
Label: Nuclear Blast

“Before the war, this grave darksome pall
Pressed upon the face of England
We were sovereign to nothing less
Than the map of our souls solicitous to reign
Together in a peace these wicked times disdain

Then Empire saw much more to gain

The Crown discounts our loss
Life cannot count the cost
These numbers fount like water
The dead and dying, those on route to slaughter

Valentine sweet spine entwined
I am sorry that I left you here, in time
I will find the path back from the other side
So keep a candle burning
In your heart that is my shrine

No Memento Mori
For he passed away
For faraway glory
So tear the pages
From this castaway story

Spilling tears
Fill her lachrymatory

She seeks to pierce the veil
Melancholia
Speaks the fiercest tale
Weeks are growing lonelier
Even stonier regaled

Love’s bond responding
Beyond the pale

The planchette is promissory
Purveyance of the seance
In obeisance to the spirits
Before their dismissory

The Crown discounts our loss
Life cannot count the cost
These numbers fount like water
The dead and dying, those on route to slaughter

Valentine sweet spine entwined
I am sorry that I left you here, in time
I will find the path back from the other side
So please accept my kisses
Through the whispers of the Ouija board

I suffer alone
So far from home
Watching you from a distance
A shadow’s persistence to roam

No time to atone
You flower alone
Beautifully graven
You cut a black raven
Whose tower has flown

No Memento Mori
For he passed away
For faraway glory
So tear the pages
From this castaway story

Spilling tears
Fill her lachrymatory

She seeks to pierce the veil
Melancholia speaks the fiercest tale
Weeks are growing lonelier
Even stonier regaled

Love’s bond responding
Beyond the pale

The planchette is promissory
Purveyance of the seance
In obeisance to the spirits
Ghosts that haunt amiss, amie

Winter seems far colder
Without you by my shoulder now this year

Faith’s blinding glare advanced to frost
Finds her there, entranced to cross
To breach death’s porous border
And reach where breath affords no quarter

Helpless, I see her resolve harden

This is where it ends
How the wretchedness portends
The knife in her hand
On the stretch to the promised land

And this is how they found my light
Clutching tight that fateful telegram”
