VORTEXX SCHEDULE FOR DECEMBER 11 – 18, 2016

Welcome to The Vortexx where it's been ALL HOSTS ALL THE TIME FOR SIX YEARS!

Welcome to The Vortexx where it's ALL HOSTS ALL THE TIME! We've got a terrific line-up this week, with two movies making their Vortexx debut along with several returning favorites. Be sure to come by on Thursday for the MUMMY TV CHRISTMAS SHOW and on Saturday for the "RIGGOR MORTISS PRESENTS" MARATHON, an all-day fundraising event co-sponsored by The Vortexx and The Eerie Late Night Horror Channel. Our hosts this week are Misty Brew, Movie House Ron, Freezer Mortis, Freakshow & the Bordello gang, Danvers & special guest Count Gore de Vol, Mr. & Mrs. Mummy, Dave Binkley & Shannon Steele, Arachna of the Spider People & Deadly -- and Riggor Mortiss & Nyte Angel all day on Saturday. Enjoy the shows and thanks for hanging out!

CHRISTMAS DADDY will make all your Christmas wishes come true!

Christmas is little more than a month away, and that means our very own bearer of Yuletide gifts CHRISTMAS DADDY will be coming to The Vortexx soon to make your Christmas wishes come true. A new slack module . . . a membership in the Puppy of the Month Club . . . a Dr Lady action figure . . . a singing Sluggo plushie that also does lap dances. . . . Those are just a few of the wonderful gifts that Christmas Daddy has given to our viewers in years past. Whatever your wish may be this year, just send an e-mail to Christmas Daddy at The Vortexx North Pole and he'll do his very best to make it happen. You can reach Christmas Daddy at christmasdaddy@horrorhost.net

MISTY BREW'S CREATURE FEATURE presents The Vortexx premiere of Arthur Conan Doyle's THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (1939)

Sunday (12/11). 9:00 P.M. (ET) MISTY BREW'S CREATURE FEATURE presents The Vortexx premiere of Arthur Conan Doyle's THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (1939). The game is afoot tonight as Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce star in the first (and arguably the best) of the fourteen movies that they would make together as Sherlock Holmes and his bumbling sidekick Dr. Watson between 1939 and 1946. Richard Greene (who received top billing when the movie was released) co-stars as Sir Henry Baskerville, the heir to the cursed Baskerville estate. Cast members under suspicion include horror veterans Lionel Atwill as Dr. James Mortimer and John Carradine as Barryman the butler. Misty's show will be preceded by a MOVIE HOUSE HOT TAKE with Ron Purtee. Tonight Ron takes a few moments to talk about Kevin Smith's new horror-comedy YOGA HOSERS (2016).

FORMERLY CRAPPICS presents The Vortexx premiere of LADY IN THE DEATH HOUSE (1944)

Monday (12/12). 9:00 P.M. (ET) FORMERLY CRAPPICS with Freezer Mortis presents The Vortexx premiere of LADY IN THE DEATH HOUSE (1944). Veteran B-movie villain Lionel Atwill is the good guy this time in the role of a criminologist investigating the case of a woman (Jean Parker) wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to die in the chair. In a weird twist, the executioner (Douglas Fowley) is also her boyfriend. Will Lionel find the real killer in time to save the poor woman? If you don't know the answer to that question, you haven't watched enough B-movies! Because of the relatively short length of tonight's movie, Freezer will be adding a second short feature in the same crime drama vein as the main feature.

BORDELLO OF HORROR presents Al Adamson's BRAIN OF BLOOD (1974)

Tuesday (12/13). 9:00 P.M. (ET) BORDELLO OF HORROR with Freakshow, Mistress Malicious Sgt. Drizzlepuss, Ali Katt, and Beelzabroad presents Al Adamson's BRAIN OF BLOOD (1971). Kent Taylor stars as a mad scientist who transplants the brain of a dying ruler into the body of the scientist's hulking, imbecilic, acid-scarred servant Gor (John Bloom). Much mayhem ensues. Wee person Angelo Rossito plays the scientist's maniacal assistant Dorro. Zandor Vorkov (actually stockbroker Roger Engel), best known as the blue-faced Count Zappula from Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein, also makes an appearance. Along with the movie Freaky will be presenting special musical guest Kitty in a Casket, a movie review with Mark "The Movie Maniac" from The Final Cut, and more!

DEMENTED FEATURES WITH DANVERS presents F. W. Murnau's NOSFERATU (1922)

Wednesday (12/14). 9:00 P.M. (ET) DEMENTED FEATURES with Danvers and special guest Count Gore de Vol presents F. W. Murnau's silent classic NOSFERATU (1922). Max Schreck plays the blood sucking vampire count in one of the first -- and definitely one of the scariest -- screen adaptations of Bram Stoker's Dracula. For legal reasons, the filmmakers had to call him Count Orlok, but trust us folks he's really Dracula. In addition to the movie, Danvers will be presenting the trailer for VARNEY THE VAMPIRE (OR, THE FEAST OF BLOOD), based on the "penny dreadful" serialized novel from the 1840s.

MUMMY TV CHRISTMAS SHOW!

Thursday (12/15). 9:00 P.M. (ET) We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Mummy back to The Vortexx with the MUMMY TV CHRISTMAS SHOW! If you're feeling Grinchy this year, never fear. Mr. and Mrs. Mummy have the cure! Last year's Christmastime favorite is back -- a special two-hour edition of Mummy TV's Episode #9 Christmas Spirits. We guarantee it'll make your heart grow three sizes larger! Once again, the highlight of the show will be SANTA AND THE THREE BEARS (1970) -- a 45-minute animated feature with a warm Christmas-y feeling throughout. Tonight's show will be a cornucopia of Holiday/Christmas themed goodness, including movie trailers, retro TV commercials, cartoons, and, of course, music. You won't be hearing White Christmas for the millionth time tonight, but the Mummys will be entertaining us with their own holiday music Christmas Balls which they play only one time each year.

THE WEIRDNESS REALLY BAD MOVIE presents ONE BODY TOO MANY (1944)

Friday (12/16). 9:00 P.M. (ET) THE WEIRDNESS REALLY BAD MOVIE with Dave Binkley and co-host Shannon Steele presents ONE BODY TOO MANY (1944). Bela Lugosi plays yet another sinister butler in this lighthearted murder mystery starring Jack Haley (best remembered as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz) as an insurance salesman who is hired to guard the body of an eccentric millionaire the night his will is to be read. In keeping with the theme of tonight's movie, this episode was filmed at the Slate Farm Insurance Co. (not to be confused with a well-known agency with a similar name), where Dave and Shannon meet Mike the Insurance Man. And be sure to get there on time tonight so you don't miss a special appearance by Dale Kay.

THE "RIGGOR MORTISS PRESENTS" MARATHON!

Saturday (12/17). 10:00 A.M. (ET) on the Eerie Late Night Horror Channel and 9:00 P.M. (ET) in The Vortexx. We invite all our viewers to join us today and tonight for THE "RIGGOR MORTISS PRESENTS" MARATHON -- a special benefit event co-sponsored by The Vortexx and the Eerie Late Night Horror Channel. Riggor is suffering from a cancerous tumor and needs help paying his medical bills. We hope that all our viewers will show their appreciation for this great host by watching his shows and making a donation to his GoFundMe page. No donation is too small! The marathon begins on Eerie Late Night at approximately 10AM and continues all day until 9PM when we will all head over to The Vortexx to watch Riggor, his charming co-host Nyte Angel, and special guest Dr. Sigmund Zoid present KING OF THE ZOMBIES (1941) starring Mantan Moreland, Henry (Freaks) Victor, Dick Foran, and Joan Woodbury.

BEWARE THEATER presents Roger Corman's A BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959)

Sunday (12/18). 9:00 P.M. (ET) BEWARE THEATER with Arachna of the Spider People and her friend Deadly presents another monochromatic marvel from the Golden Age of Black & White -- Roger Corman's A BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959). In his only starring role, veteran character actor Dick Miller plays Walter Paisley, a coffeehouse busboy who gains recognition and respect as an artistic genius after he accidentally kills his cat and covers it with plaster. And now everyone's dying (literally!) to see his next creation. Corman regulars Bruno (Fat Dave) VeSota, Antony Carbone, and Barboura Morris add great support in this delightfully campy movie, while Julian Burton hams it up as the ultimate beat poet Maxwell H. Brock. Look for Bert Convey as the undercover narc who finds himself on the wrong end of Walter's frying pan. Arachna's show will be preceded by a MOVIE HOUSE HOT TAKE with Ron Purtee. Tonight Ron's new director has decided that he should talk about the 1985 HBO "classic" BLACKOUT.

BEWARE THEATER
presents
NOSFERATU (1922)

BEWARE THEATER with Arachna of the Spider People and her friend Deadly presents another gem from the Golden Age of Black-and-White -- F. W. Murnau's NOSFERATU (1922). Max Schreck plays the blood sucking vampire count in one of the first -- and definitely one of the scariest -- screen adaptations of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Arachna has taken some creative license to make this silent movie . . . well, less silent. Nosferatu actually speaks, and there are also some sound effects, different music, and lots of scary fun. This episode was a big hit with our viewers when it aired in The Vortexx last April, and we're betting that you're going to enjoy it even more the second time round. Tonight show will be preceded by a tribute to Jim (The Colonel) Klink hosted by one of his closest friends -- Dale Kay, host of DALE KAY'S SPOOKSHOW. Jim passed away last year on October 24.

Monday (10/24). 9:00 P.M. (ET)

VENGEANCE OF THE ZOMBIES (1973)

NIGHT CHILLS THEATRE with Vincent Grimmly and his pet raven Phydeaux presents The Vortexx premiere of VENGEANCE OF THE ZOMBIES (1973). Paul Naschy plays a triple role in this stupendously bad but fun-to-watch Spanish horror thriller. Wearing a wig that makes him look like an Elvis impersonator, Naschy is hilariously miscast as Krishna, a charismatic Indian guru who may or may not be responsible for gang of murderous zombies on the loose in London. Naschy also plays Krishna's hideously disfigured brother Kantaka, and he sports some ridiculous looking horns playing The Devil himself. Argentinean beauty Mirta Miller plays the Guru's Indian girlfriend Kala. Some gratuitous nudity, a little gore, and an undeniably groovy free-form jazz and progressive-rock score add to the fun. Tonight's show will be preceded by Dale Kay's tribute to Jim (The Colonel) Klink, who passed away a year ago today on October 24, 2015.

Tuesday (10/25). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
BORDELLO OF HORROR
presents
HORROR HOTEL (1960)

BORDELLO OF HORROR with Freakshow, Mistress Malicious, Sgt. Drizzlepuss, Ali Katt, and Marijohuana presents a Vortex favorite -- HORROR HOTEL (1960) aka City of the Dead. A 300-year-old witch needs annual virgin sacrifices in order sustain her immortality, and virgins are getting harder and harder to find! Starring Christopher Lee and directed by John Llewellyn Moxey (Night Stalker), this chilling tale about witchcraft in a small New England town was released in the same year as Psycho and has been compared to that film in several ways. In addition to the movie, Freaky will be entertaining us with musical guests Bolonium, a movie review by Mark Krawczyk from The Final Cut, a special Bloody little secret short film, and more! Tonight's show will be preceded by Dale Kay's tribute to Jim (The Colonel) Klink. [Movie poster by Sean Hartter courtesy of Saturday Fright Special.]

Wednesday (10/26). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
MONSTER MOVIE NIGHT
presents
THE GHOST (1963)

MONSTER MOVIE NIGHT with Bobby Gammonster and Boris the Buzzard presents THE GHOST (1963). Not just any ghost, mind you, but the ghost of Dr. Hitchcock of Horrible Dr. Hitchcock fame. Barbara Steele stars as his unfaithful wife, who plots against the doctor, now a cripple, with the help of her lover, while the lover plots against Babs with the help of the housekeeper. It's directed by Riccardo Freda, who had a great influence on both Mario Bava and Dario Argento. This movie has lots of atmosphere, lots of Babs, and a terrific twist ending, so don't miss it!

Thursday (10/27). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
ALTERNATIVE REALITIES
presents
THE MAD MONSTER (1942)

Our Countdown to Halloween continues tonight with the ALTERNATIVE REALITIES Halloween show from 2014. Tonight Dr. Sigmund Zoid and Suggo are hosting THE MAD MONSTER (1942) affectionately known to its fans as "Of Mice and Men and Werewolves," Glenn Strange, best remembered as the Frankenstein Monster in three Universal movies, plays Petro, a simple-minded handyman very reminiscent of the simpleton Lenny in the Steinbeck novel Of Mice and Men. Only this time a mad scientist (George Zucco) turns the simpleton into a werewolf!

Friday (10/28). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
SICKO-PSYCHOTIC
presents
The Vortexx premiere of
THE VAMPIRES' NIGHT ORGY (1973)

SICKO-PSYCHOTIC returns to The Vortexx to host the Vortexx premiere of THE VAMPIRES' NIGHT ORGY (1973). Imagine what Two Thousand Maniacs would have been like if Herschell Gordon Lewis had used vampires instead of southern rednecks, and you'll have a good idea of what tonight's movie is all about. It's a Spanish-Italian co-production directed by Leon Klimovsky, who also directed The Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman and Monday night's Vengeance of the Zombies. This time, however, Klimovsky eschews his favorite go-to star Paul Naschy in favor of the lesser known Jack Taylor (the stripey-shirt guy in last week's Horror of the Zombies). It's about a busload of travelers who decide to spend the night in a nearby town when the bus driver suffers a fatal heart attack. At first the town seems to be uninhabited, but the travelers soon discover that it's populated by some (non-traditional) vampires who like to tear their victims to pieces. WARNING: Tonight's movie contains nudity and brutal violence and is definitely for adults only. So please keep the kids locked in the cellar tonight. It's the only safe place for them.

Saturday (10/29). 8:00 P.M. (ET)
PENINSULA OF HORROR
presents
WHAT IN THE SAMHAIN? CHAT NIGHT!

Join us tonight for a triple dose of HOUSE OF MASTER VYLE PRESENTS as THE PENINSULA OF HORROR -- the showcase for Florida's finest horror hosts -- celebrates its Third Anniversary with WHAT IN THE SAMHAIN? Chat Night! The main show starts at 8 (ET) as Master Vyle and Queman host THE GIANT GILA MONSTER (1959). They used a Mexican Beaded Lizard instead of a Gila Monster, and the movie lumbers along even more slowly than its title monster. But this low-budget gem has rock music, hot rods, skid marks, and plenty of unintentional laughs. Then stick around at 10 (ET) when Master Vyle and Queman return to host THE KILLER SHREWS (1959). Who cares if the shrews are really just dogs with rugs attached to them? This is a highly entertaining movie! The shrew action continues at Midnight (ET) as Master Vyle presents THE KILLER SHREWS (PILOT VERSION). It's the same movie but different host bits as Master Vyle presents the never-before-seen pilot version of his show. We must warn you, however, once you see this show, it can never be unseen! There will be a PreShow for the Early Boids -- THE GREAT GRUMPLIN'S HALLOWEEN SAFETY SHOW -- starting at 7 (ET).
PLEASE NOTE: Tonight's show will be aired on The Peninsula of Horror's Livestream channel -- livestream.com/tpoh Viewers who show up on The Vortexx channel Saturday night will be re-directed there, so you can save yourself a couple of steps by going directly to The Peninsula of Horror.

Sunday (10/30). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
PUBLIC DOMAIN DRIVE-IN
presents
TALES FROM THE HAUNTED RADIO

PUBLIC DOMAIN DRIVE-IN with Cnl. Graves & Smiley Bones presents TALES FROM THE HAUNTED RADIO. Cnl. Graves and Smiley are back to celebrate Halloween again, this time with the Haunted Radio! Join us for audio tricks and treats as we listen to HP Lovecraft's Dunwich Horror, Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven, and the Washington Irving classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. But the chills aren't just for your ears as our two hosts also hit a Halloween Party and learn about Halloween Safety -- plus even more treats! This one is gonna be a lotta fun! Don't miss it!

Monday (10/31). 9:00 P.M. (ET)
VORTEXX HALLOWEEN PARTY: SKUNKY CINEMA
presents
The Vortexx premiere of
CARRY ON SCREAMING (1966)

Join us tonight as we celebrate The Season of the Witch with our third annual VORTEXX HALLOWEEN PARTY! Our Monster of Ceremonies Mortimer Van Creep will kick off the celebration with a brand new episode of SKUNKY CINEMA. Tonight Morty will be hosting The Vortexx premiere of CARRY ON SCREAMING (1966). Kenneth Williams stars as the revived Dr. Watt and luscious Fennella Fielding is his vampirish sister in the twelfth installment of the long-running British "Carry On" series. Together they create two Frankenstein monsters named Oddbod and Oddbod Jr. who go around kidnapping hapless women. Mr. Hyde and a mummy join in the fun in this parody of the Hammer horror films of the 1960s. And for all you night owls, West Coasters, and Halloween junkies who took off work on November 1, the party continues at 11 (ET) with three full hours of MORT'S MONSTER SHORTS!

GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE (1974)

MISTY BREW'S CREATURE FEATURE presents GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE (1974). Michael Pataki stars as Caleb Croft, one of the creepiest bloodsuckers you're ever going to see. No sparkly vampires tonight, folks. This guy really means business. William Smith plays Caleb's half-vampire, half-human son twenty-four years before Wesley Snipes did it in Blade. Writer David Chase would later go on to bigger and better things with The Sopranos.

The Vortexx premiere of
Riccardo Fredi's SAMSON AND THE 7 MIRACLES OF THE WORLD (1961)

FORMERLY CRAPPICS with Freezer Mortis presents The Vortexx premiere of Riccardo Fredi's SAMSON AND THE 7 MIRACLES OF THE WORLD (1961). Freezer returns to his roots in the Italian sword-and-sandal genre in this tale of Maciste (renamed Samson in the American release) , who goes to China to rescue a princess and fight Tartar rebels. Former Tarzan Gordon Scott stars as the muscle-bound hero, while French-Japanese actress Yoko Tani plays the princess. Two capable leads, a decent director, and lavish exterior and interior sets (left over from the movie Marco Polo) help raise this film a notch above the usual sword-and-sandal fare of the early 1960s.

HORROR OF THE ZOMBIES (1974)

BORDELLO OF HORROR with Freakshow, Mistress Malicious, Sgt. Drizzlepuss, Ali Katt, and Marijohuana presents The Vortexx premiere of HORROR OF THE ZOMBIES (1974) aka The Ghost Galleon. This sequel to director Amando de Ossorio's successful and well-received The Blind Dead fails to measure up to the original. Its about a pair of bikini-glad fashion models aboard a phantom galleon who are chased in endless circles by eyeless ghouls wearing hoods. Turns out the ghouls are actually the skeletal remains of some excommunicated medieval Knights Templar, who were hanged and blinded for dabbling in black magic and Satan worship. In addition to the movie, Freaky will be entertaining us with musical guests The Anderson Brothers.

UNDEAD WEDNESDAY ZOMBIE DOUBLE FEATURE

Join us tonight for our UNDEAD WEDNESDAY ZOMBIE DOUBLE FEATURE! First up is MR. LOBO'S NON STOP MOVIE PARTY: ZOMBIES! -- a one-hour special which first aired on Mr. Lobo's new distribution network OSI 74 (Outer Space International). If you love zombies (and who doesn't?) , then you're not going to want to miss this one as Mr. Lobo presents clips and trailers from zombie movies of all sorts, ranging from classics such as White Zombie and Plan 9 to modern-day thrillers such as George Romero's original Dead trilogy and Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2 and City of the Living Dead. Then stick around for more gut-munching zombie action as we present three of our favorite episodes of Kriss Hoffman's PROJECT Z: HISTORY OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE -- “Lt.” (the premiere episode), "Legend of the Zombie Queen," and "Ku Klux Zombies" starring our good friend Timber Wulff.

presents
The Vortexx premiere of
SATAN'S SLAVE (1982)

REMO D.'S MANOR OF MAYHEM with Remo, co-hosts Dr. Montag and Kato the Black Hornet, and vault mistress Carlotta Nightshade presents The Vortexx premiere of SATAN'S SLAVE (1982). This little known cinema rarity from Indonesia was supposedly inspired by the cult classic Phantasm E. If you're expecting to see an Indonesian Tall Man, or Indonesian dwarfs, or a flying orb, you're going to be disappointed. But tonight's movie is actually a pretty creepy ghost story about a family attempting to deal with the recent death of the mother, who returns in spectral form after the family rejects their religion. A number of other folk also come back from the dead, and the evil forces at work get more and more powerful leading up to a genuinely terrifying conclusion in which all hell quite literally breaks loose. This is a "must see" for all fans of Indonesian horror, whoever and wherever they may be.

THE WEIRDNESS REALLY BAD MOVIE
presents
Roger Corman's THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS (1954)

THE WEIRDNESS REALLY BAD MOVIE with Dave Binkley and co-host Lisa Pierce presents Roger Corman's THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS. No, this isn't the 2001 Vin Diesel blockbuster that led to a lucrative franchise. It's a cheapo Corman production from 1954 about a man wrongly convicted of murder (future Academy Award nominee John Ireland), who kidnaps a woman (future Academy Award winner Dorothy Malone) and her Jaguar XK120 and then joins the annual Pebble Beach cross-border road race in an attempt to hightail it into Mexico. This was Corman's third film, and the first to be distributed by American International Pictures. Corman makes a cameo appearance as a state trooper, while Bruno (Fat Dave) Ve Sota, Snub Pollard (of Laurel & Hardy fame), and Jonathan (Seymour Krelburn) Haze appear in small roles as a truck driver, park caretaker, and Dorothy's rescuer. In keeping with the theme of tonight's movie, the host segments were shot at the Canton Classic Car Museum in Canton, Ohio.

William Castle's HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959)

SKUNKY CINEMA with Mortimer Van Creep and special guest Dr. Sigmund Zoid presents a Vortexx (and Mortexx) favorite -- William Castle's HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959). Vincent Price gives a stellar performance as the suavely malevolent host who offers his guests $10,000 if they can survive a night in the murderous mansion. Carol Ohmart co-stars as Vinnie's scheming wife, and Elisha Cook, Jr. plays the timid owner of the house. The eerie looking home used for the exterior shots is the Ennis Brown house in Los Angeles, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, which was later used in Blade Runner and Rocketeer.

BEWARE THEATER
presents
F. W. Murnau's NOSFERATU (1922)

This episode was a big hit with our viewers when it aired in The Vortexx last April, and we’re betting that you're going to enjoy it even more the second time round. Tonight we will also be airing a tribute to Jim (The Colonel) Klink by one of his closest friends -- Dale Kay, host of DALE KAY'S SPOOKSHOW. Jim passed away last year on October 24.
