Celebrating Seasonal Slashers

Celebrating Seasonal Slashers

In the spirit of Christmas and all that is good, I  wanted to celebrate some seasonal slashers with our followers. I will also be listing my personal top ten Christmas themed horror films of the last fifteen years.
Whilst researching the various slashers created for the festive season, I compiled a list of the popular and even lesser known holiday horror films. I also tried to investigate other holiday themed films for the December festivities, but alas nothing yet has been created for Kwanza and the first Hanukkah film will be released in 2020. It shall be titled Hanukkah and stars the late Sid Haig and horror alumni PJ Soles. The link for the trailer is listed below:

Originally the most thrilling tale told at Christmas was Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, which follows Christmas Eve of one man Ebeneezer Scrooge and his visitations by three ghosts trying to convince him to be a better person. It has been adapted into countless films, since 1901.
Horror took over in the 1970’s and the inception of the holiday slasher took shape with filmmakers  beginning to create freakish festive feature films.

Here is a list of Holiday Horror to keep any genre fan happy during their Christmas Celebrations ………

Silent Night Bloody Night (1972- which got a UK remake in 2013 called Silent Night, Bloody Night:The Homecoming)

Black Christmas (1974- remade in 2006 and again in 2019)

Christmas Evil (1980)

Gremlins and Don’t Open Til Xmas (1984)

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984, plus part 2 in 1987, part 3: Better Watch Out in 1989, part 4: initiation in 1990, and part 5: The Toymaker in 1991. There was also A film released called Silent Night in 2012, that is considered part 6)

Elves (1989)

Santa Claws (1996)

Jack Frost (1997- plus a sequel Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman in 2000)

The Christmas Season Massacre (2001)

Dead End (2003)

Silent Night, Zombie Night (2009)

Christmas Horror Story , and Krampus: The Reckoning (2015)

Krampus: Unleashed (2016)

Better Watch Out, and Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)

Now I know many will say I’ve skipped some of those favourite new wave holiday slasher films, but I assure you I haven’t . For the last fifteen years Christmas Craziness has been much sought after and I’ve compiled a list of the ten most interesting Seasonal Slashers from 2004 to 2019. This list includes independent films, mainstream releases, foreign horror, Gory fun and comedic gems.

INSIDE (2007) aka A L’Interieur
This French horror film centres on the lives of two women at Christmas. Following a tragic accident, they have been unknowingly thrust into each other’s lives as one takes it upon herself to try and steal the Unborn  baby of the other. This is not for the squeamish and it gets quite balls to the wall in parts. I advise watching the original film and not the 2016 remake. It lacks much of the pacing and fear of the plot.

Inside (2007)

KRAMPUS (2015)
Starring Australian actress Toni Collette (Hereditary, The Sixth Sense), this entry came out around the same time as other Krampus themed films. What differs this from the rest, is it’s ability to be both fun and frightening. It may not be shit your pants, nightmare inducing but it’s an enjoyable watch with a good solid cast.
Krampus (2015)

RARE EXPORTS: A CHRISTMAS TALE (2010)
What makes this seasonal horror from Finland, a priority to watch during the holidays is it’s uniqueness. It is set in Lapland and focuses on some British drillers who stumble across Joulupukki (a figure within Finnish folklore, who evolved in the modern era into Santa Claus). It’s a great little film and features some interesting plot developments.
Rare Exports :A Christmas Tale (2010)

SINT (2010) aka Saint
This entry from the Netherlands is hugely popular with the Dutch and saw an international release, gaining moderate notoriety in Australia. It is a completely psychotic twist on the legend of Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) and features him as a murderous maniac. It’s fantastic!

Sint (2010)

CANNIBAL CLAUS (2016)
This is the first, of two, popular indie horror releases from the USA on this list. From filmmaker Sean Donohue, comes his sexually gratuitous and fun creation, with plenty for the fans of Sleaze Box films during Christmastime. It is jam packed with a who’s who of indie celebrities including Bob Glazier, Ashley Lynn Caputo, Paula Tsurara, Cayt Feinics, Amanda Welch, Kristal Pixie Adams, Lisa Marie Kart, and Eric Danger Dione.

Cannibal Claws (2016)

RED CHRISTMAS (2015)
This film hails from the land downunder (Australia) and always makes me wonder how Dee Wallace Stone got cast in it. It centres on the pro life debate and focuses on an abortion many years before, basically coming back to haunt the mother. This is done as Cletus, the now adult child who has severe deformities. Of course nothing goes to plan and Cletus becomes a murderous maniac, taking out the family one by one at Christmas. Who will survive?
Red Christmas (2015)

CHRISTMAS CRUELTY! (2013) aka O’Hellige Jul! or O’Holy Christmas!
This Norwegian Christmas horror film has been likened to the old school Grindhouse films, in terms of gore, for its no holding back style of violence. The story revolves around three Christmas celebrators being hunted by a serial killer dressed as Santa Claus. One review states “two hours of holly jolly torture porn”, which is what all hardcore genre fans want.

THE GINGERDEAD MAN (2005)
If you want psychotic deranged killer cookies, then look no further! This is the perfect film for you. The Gingerdead Man features a cookie made using a drop of blood, that comes to life and begins murdering people. Sounds crazy!?! Well yeah it is, but it’s actually very entertaining. He’s an ugly little guy, but he’s fun to watch. Featuring Gary Busey perfectly as the voice of the crazed cookie, this film spawned two sequels including  The Gingerdead Man 2: The Passion of the Crust in 2008 and The Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver in 2011.

The Gingerdead Man(2005)

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE (2015)
Our second indie horror entry from the USA, comes from filmmaker Todd Nunes. The story centres on a five year old girl who goes missing and adults creating a horrid urban legend about the girls mother Mrs Garrett. Fast forward fifteen years and we come to the present day. Rachel has returned home for the holidays and a killer dressed as Santa is murdering once again. Who is the killer? And does this all tie into Jamie Garrett’s disappearance all those years ago? This film is a fun watch and features Ashley Mary Nunes and Jessica Cameron .

All Through the House (2015)

SANTA’S SLAY (2005)
The last entry on our list of ten seasonal horror faves of the last fifteen years is Santa’s Slay. Utilising the beefiness of WWE star Goldberg, this film focuses on a crazed strongman version of Santa , riding his sleigh led by his Hell Deer as he kills people. Let’s just say this made the list because of its pure hilarity. It’s awesome, and my guilty pleasure during the holidays. I’m sure I’m not alone in enjoying it for a good laugh.
Santa’s Slay (2005)

I hope these films help you find your perfect horror viewing during the holiday season and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and May everyone enjoy the Holiday season with horror in their hearts ♥️

SID HAIG Turns Dreidels Into “DREAD-DLES” In The New Holiday Shocker HANUKKAH

Remember the old joke about holiday slasher movies eventually covering every holiday on the calendar? (People still want to know what happened to Eli Roth’s plans to make his levitra kaufen in deutschland https://chanelmovingforward.com/stories/dissertation-discours-de-bayeux-1946/51/ http://jeromechamber.com/event/non-fiction-essay-contests/23/ how do you delete an email in your outbox on iphone https://qhrtechnologies.com/dose/cialis-crystal-springs/95/ paracetamol with viagra buy essays from scratch online http://www.naymz.com/essay-writer-meaning/ http://www.trinitypr.edu/admission/uk-thesis/53/ conclusion conclusions 4 hour viagra http://bookclubofwashington.org/books/strategic-management-dissertation/14/ https://harvestinghappiness.com/drug/liquid-viagra-alcohol-shot-in-london/66/ essay одежда what to write in a career goal essay thesis on english literature download how to do a study case go here https://thejeffreyfoundation.org/newsletter/literature-search-definition/17/ http://belltower.mtaloy.edu/studies/biochemistry-homework/20/ headache viagra time for cialis to kick in education research paper https://lynchburgartclub.org/alaska-ged-testing-writing-essay-format/ viagra funciona jovem viagra find sites free thesis statement examples follow url how to email from an iphone 6 here viagra naturale vendita enter GRINDHOUSE ‘fake trailer’, THANKSGIVING into an actual film!)

Well, it really isn’t a joke anymore! Beloved cult icon SID HAIG is now starring in the upcoming slasher HANUKKAH, co-starring CHARLES FLEISCHER (WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?, ZODIAC), P.J. SOLES (HALLOWEEN, CARRIE, ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL), CAROLINE WILLIAMS (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, TALES OF POE) and writer/actor JOE KNETTER (ZOMBIE BUKKAKE).

The sophomore feature of writer/director EBEN MCGARR (SICK GIRL), HANUKKAH’S plot goes a little something like this:

“Obediah Lazarus is the son of Judah Lazarus, the original Hanukiller. In 1983, Judah terrorized NY for seven nights and was preparing to sacrifice his eight-year-old son, Obediah, on the eighth night. Judah was convinced it was God’s will, like Abraham and Isaac, to sacrifice his only son to God. Luckily for Obediah, police tracked Judah down and stopped the sacrifice, but Judah was gunned down in the process. Warped by hatred with no guidance, Obediah Lazarus becomes a religious extremist, intolerant of non-Jews, “bad Jews”, and those he perceives to be enemies of the Jewish faith. He is about to unleash eight nights of horror. A group of Jewish teens are getting ready to party for the holidays, but are in for a Festival of Frights. With the help of a wise Rabbi, they deduce that the murder victims have violated Judaic law and that their only chance at survival is to embrace their faith.”

Does this mean that we’ll be seeing a menorah used as a blunt instrument? Watch for the release of HANUKKAH to find out!
