An Indie double Feature: Auopssessed and Unplanned Parenthood

An Indie double Feature: Auopssessed and Unplanned Parenthood

Every once in awhile scrolling through your Facebook feed actually pays off. I’ve been friends with Emil (Johansson) Levin for quite some time, but just recently discovered he makes films. Not just any films, but my favourite kind, trashy, gory, indie films! It also turns out he’s a really nice guy and sent me a couple screeners and since they are shorts, I’m going to review them as a sick little double feature.

The first one I watched was called Auopssessed, the title is a combination of the words autopsy and obsessed. It’s pretty much what the title suggests. A young girl visits a “doctor” who basically performs a live autopsy on her and by live I mean she’s alive while he does it. She’s a willing participant and giggles through the entire thing. The doctor removes a bunch of her organs including some super beefy entrails and squishy, squirty mystery organs. The best part is when he pulls a used condom out of her and is assaulted by bodily fluids yelling “I got man splooge all over my scrubs”! His patient just giggles and continues to suck on her lolly seemingly enjoying the whole thing right up to and including the cannibalization of her intestines.

A fun piece of trivia about the film is that it was shot in roughly 2 hours and the budget was only 50$. The cameraman got a parking ticket while shooting and 40 of the 50 dollar budget went into paying the fine.

The second short and my favourite of the two is called Unplanned Parenthood. ***trigger warning*** if you are Christian, pro-life, Republican or easily offended skip the movie and this review.
A Christian missionary knocks on a pregnant “woman’s” door seeking donations. She asks the man what faith he’s in and then proceeds to tell him a wild tale of how crazy Christians are when it comes to planned parenthood and pro-life. She goes into great detail about a backdoor abortion clinic. Complete with coat hangers, Nazi’s, and an Alt right nut job. This film is really over the top, it’s a dick ripping, baby shooting, good time. I laughed a lot during the entire thing. Take a look at the trailer HERE

I hope to see more films from my Swedish friend Emil (Johansson) Levin in the future and hopefully his work becomes more available to viewers here in North America. You can watch some of his work here

Ouroboros short film review

Ouroboros short film review

When watching films we tend to forget that a lot of directors big or small started somewhere. Most directors do short films to add to their portfolio, an idea to show what they’re capable of or in some cases just to get their feet wet. They are pretty much everywhere and in the old days most short films were done on the family 8mm. With technology nowadays we can film everything on our phones or even on a tablet. I grateful enough to check out this short film by (David Teixeira) which he wrote and directed called  (OUROBOROS) The film is roughly about 11 minutes. The movie may not seem long for others but keep in mind 11 minutes can be brutal for pre and post production working to get it done right and make sure everything is good to go for film festivals or viewings among critics. The title of the film has a definition that explains the title for the audience. Most of the time I’m used to seeing a movie with music and then goes right into dialogue and action, this film has no real dialogue except screaming and a few lines of the title being repeated in the opening credits there’s music of that of a music box I waited patiently for the movie to begin, but it continued throughout the film all the way into the ending. At first I have to admit I was a little annoyed as well as confused. I gave the movie a few more chances to really dwell in, get the idea of the film, understand it. Which honestly I felt the director deserved since this is his film. Upon watching it a few more times I realized as stated before this film is just a film to be made to get something for the portfolio, get their feet wet if anything. The film is about A girl keeps having the same dream where she hurts herself on a finger, finds an abandoned castle and goes inside. One day she wakes up and she decides to visit the castle for good. Like an endless time loop. There’s no violence or gore, but overall the movie isn’t bad, good editing and the music does help keep the creepy tone of the film moving along. The director said he won’t be making it into a feature film,. but it’s interesting to see what else what he’ll do with his work or other projects

The Crossing Review- House Of Tortured Souls

The Crossing Review- House Of Tortured Souls

I had the privilege to have been asked to review Thomas Haley’s short film The Crossing and it was the best 15 minutes of viewing pleasure that I have experienced leaving me wanting more of it.

The Crossing which stars Felissa Rose, Brooklyn Haley, and Charles Chudabala—brings you to the urban legend of a bride who willingly sacrificed herself by the train tracks after a tragic car crash that left her new husband dead. Now anytime any couples cross the tracks, she preys on them because who wants to see another couple strive in happiness?

Thomas Haley saw potential in using a woman’s suffering of a loss in turns to get her revenge of other people’s happiness, not caring that it will not bring her husband back. As a viewer, it caught my attention of seeing a woman scorned from a chance of pure happiness, because let’s be honest, who hasn’t felt that sense of pure jealousy seeing those around you have what you don’t have. Especially with it being taken away so fast in a blink of an eye.

This short film dragged me into wanting more. It had the proper amount of not just gore but you felt for her every step of the way. You can clearly tell Thomas Haley and the cast had put every ounce of dedication into this short film and I can’t wait for everyone to have the chance to view it as well.

House of Tortured Souls Live Welcomes Billy Pon

With Special Guest Billy Pon

By John Roisland, Stephanie Roisland, and Allen (Dixielord) Alberson

&npsp;

During the Billy Pon interview about a minute and a half of audio was garbled, and some bits lost. It was either cut the entire section, leave it or try and piece it together and possibly lose or misinterpret the questions and response so I decided to leave it as is. Apologies to Billy Pon.
